What is the view about baptism at Mosaic?

Hey you all here is a good overview of Baptism written by Bob Hyatt.

We see woven in scripture Jesus giving us two signs, two sacraments, two ordinances to follow. Our desire is to learn from them, experience them and be obedient to them.

"Wash me and I will be whiter than snow..."

This is what God promises.
New starts.
Clean slates.
Washing.
Clean.
Forgiveness.

We walk through this life so weighed down with guilt and shame for what we've done or failed to do- and God comes along and lifts it off our backs... forgives us- if we'll let Him.
And we walk through this life wishing that others would feel guilt and shame for what they've done to us or failed to do for us- and God comes along and forgives us, and tells us to forgive others and helps us to forgive others... if we'll let Him.

So what's the problem?

The problem is, we just don't get it. We won't, we can't... we don't.
Is it so hard to believe that God could wash away your sins?
Yeah. Is it so hard to believe that God could wash away the sins of someone you hate?

Yeah, it is. Is it so hard to believe that Jesus Christ died, paid the price, gave His body and shed His blood for my sins and for your sins. Yeah, It is. Is it so hard to believe that Jesus Christ died, paid the price, gave His body and shed His blood for the sins of the people who hurt you, and abused you, and continue to treat you like dirt? Yeah, it really is.

And so Jesus gave us two signs, two sacraments, two ordinances- two ways to help us get it... to help us understand, and remember and see, and touch and experience and receive.

And these things are more than just symbols. They are gifts to us, acts we can see and do. They are places where God shows up in and through and around and touches us and washes us and takes some very, very abstract concepts and makes them real.  -thoughts from Bob Hyatt..

Its a really important moment in the lives of some individuals, but also has an element of involvement, responsibility and celebration that is meant to be shared.

Ah, ha, so, when do we experience the two is what you are asking. We schedule communion every 4- 6 weeks, i think our last time we had communion together was October 14.....we baptized in July and our plans are to attempt have a baptism once a quarter.

Yes, many in the Mosaic community have been baptized. Every once in awhile we want to ask "Who else?"

Baptism is a sign to God, yourself and the world that you are committed to following Christ, that you identify with His death, burial and resurrection and receive the forgiveness He offers through those events, and that you "die" to your old life and come alive to a new life as a follower of Jesus. So infant baptism is not practiced at Mosaic?

Ok. Additional question:

Following this line of thinking, if someone was baptized as an infant, do you then reccommend that they are baptized again as a child or an adult?

At that point, is baptism a sign of the covenant or an expression of faith?

What do you believe the purpose of baptism to be?
