Can you make it just fine in life without Jesus?

Could we allow that question to move us to take inventory our life, and to give a correct estimate of who we are, and who Jesus is?

That is what Jesus was asking as he moved the crowds to deal with this metaphor in the book of John.

John 6:35 Then Jesus declared, 25When they found him on the other side of the lake, they asked him, "Rabbi, when did you get here?" 26Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, you are looking for me, not because you saw miraculous signs but because you ate the loaves and had your fill. 27Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On him God the Father has placed his seal of approval."

28Then they asked him, "What must we do to do the works God requires?" 29Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent." 30So they asked him, "What miraculous sign then will you give that we may see it and believe you? What will you do? 31Our forefathers ate the manna in the desert; as it is written: 'He gave them bread from heaven to eat.' "

32Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. 33For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world." 34"Sir," they said, "from now on give us this bread." 35Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.

There is an old saying, “you are what you eat!” That’s an intriguing statement in the context of this question don’t you think?

You are what you eat.
With what are you nourishing yourself today?
What are you feasting on in your life?
Jesus said, “I am the Bread of Life.”

Author, Byron Harvey, states, When Jesus talks about “believing in Him”, He is certainly, on the basis of this context, talking about more than making simply an intellectual decision or grabbing a little bit of eternal insurance.

He is talking about the turning over of oneself to a lifestyle wherein the normal course of my life is to look to Jesus to meet the needs that only He can. It is to take Him into me, to take His Word as my food, His Spirit as the air that I breathe, His will as the determining factor of the course of my life.

Jesus, answer to the needs of the human heart!

you hear so much from preachers on TV about what God wants to do for you. this "health and wealth" garbage is such a perversion of the Gospel. it's never about Jesus changing your life spiritually, it's about "acting right" and then being rewarded with you've wanted on earth. total crap. i've seen plenty of faithful people living in poverty and within modest means. i've seen plenty of faithful people suffer and die because of illness and disease.

can God make me weathly or cure my diseases, sure. does he promise me that in scripture, no.

he wants a relationship with us. he wants connection. we wants to change the way we live and think. we wants us to be a blessing and a help to others. he could care less about the "treasures on earth."

jesus says in john 16:33, "in this world you will have trouble, but take heart, i have overcome the world."
